Wichita Lineman

Denne har jeg postet mange ganger før. Men jeg synes den er så fin. Jimmy Webbs "Wichita Lineman", framført av Glen Campbell.

It has been called the first "existential" country song, with violins and Gulbransen synthesizer simulating the electronic sounds on the telephone line in the middle of nowhere. To me, it really captures the loneliness of the wide open spaces, where your only friend might be yourself! I've been to Wichita, but this song was apparently written based on an experience in the neighboring state of Oklahoma. Wichita is a big city, but those prairies are just as seemingly endless and empty as ever.

Thank you! I didn't know that. Interesting piece of information! :)

I did a little further research and several articles say it was actually a church organ that was used to produce the instrumental portion. Here is one article that I found: http://www.blender.com/guide/66715/greatest-songs-ever-wichita-lineman.html
